Tavares Oliver also chipped in 15 points, while Ashton Sherrell finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Carl Pettway had 19 points for Fitzgerald (3-3, 0-2).

Sunday night, the McDonald’s All-American Game rosters for the girls and boys games were announced.

Perhaps the most prestigious of all the high school basketball all-star selections, there isn’t a lot of local flavor this time around.

But, there are a pair of Michigan State commits, one from each gender.

For the boys, La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere’s Jaren Jackson Jr. was selected. The 6-foot-10, 255-pounder with game similar to former Heat star Chris Bosh committed to MSU back in September. He’s the son of former NBA forward Jaren Jackson and WNBA players association official Terri Carmichael Jackson.

Jackson’s La Lumiere team is the best in the nation, according to USA TODAY and undefeated.

Beaverton boys basketball coach Roy Johnston

Beaverton boys basketball defeated Farwell, 61-24, to give coach Roy Johnston his 729th career victory, the new record for Michigan high school boys basketball head coaching wins.

Johnston, who had stints at Yale and Howell, now has 784 total varsity wins when you add the 55 victories coaching the Beaverton girls team.

The 74-year-old Johnston watched his team improve to 11-1 on the season.
